Informations

YOKE (with Tomoko) is a collaborative performance by Myriam Van Imschoot, Marcus Bergner and Tomoko Hojo, created during a week-long residency at GalleryGallery in Melbourne.

Growing out of YOKE, created by Van Imschoot and Bergner in Belgrade in 2021, this new constellation developed the work into a spatial and musical composition. Voice, radio signals, piano, walls, objects, light and shadow all become playable material, responding to what the site itself offered and turning its spaces into instruments.

Unfolding across different indoor and outdoor spaces, the performance used a shadow walk through the alleys of Brunswick as a hinge between them. YOKE (with Tomoko) moved between sound poetry, experimental music, shadow play and site-responsive performance, conceived as a shifting and shimmering field of listening, presence and apparition.
