Newsletter #6

As autumn unfolds, we find ourselves in a moment of passage. Our journey holds traces of what once was and opens toward what is yet to come, in gestures, words, and shared time.

We are delighted to invite you to the presentation of the first chapter of our forthcoming book, A LI’NUAGE, on October 24th at 15:30 in the KBR Auditorium. Will Holder and Justine Maxelon will speak about the making of the book as a collective process, and we will read selected passages reflecting on our evolving practices and relationships with space.

For a year now, we have been reflecting on our ten-year existence while also looking beyond it, as we continue to transform. We have begun to publish as a way to gather, share, and deepen our insights from working with voice, orality, and ancestry, as well as sonic inventions and social imaginations.

Currently, we are in residency at KBR Museum, and the dialogue with this rich epicenter of book culture will nurture the following four chapters, which we intend to release in the coming year, each with its own theme and temporality.

Keep an eye on our Instagram: newpolyphonies. We will take part in the Brussels ASS Book Fair from November 28th to 30th, and soon our publications will also be available in a selected list of bookshops.

Meanwhile, other artists in newpolyphonies have been on the move. After extensive research in Karpathos, Greece, and Beirut, Lebanon, Yasmina Reggad is processing the outcome of her research residencies for the project A Divided House. After Japan, Myriam Van Imschoot continues her tour in Korea and will soon travel to Melbourne for the première of Yoke (with Tomoko), a performance piece with voice and shadows, on November 2nd. More details are included below.
