We're launching our new website! More content will be added over the coming months, but there's already plenty to discover. Alongside the larger productions by Myriam Van Imschoot and the YouYou Group, a whole constellation of smaller works comes into view. From sound art on school playgrounds to site-responsive performances in public space, from Timișoara to Japan. What stands out is just how much work has been accomplished over the past few years, and how many offshoots and collaborations have emerged along the way.
In our texts section, we bring together more in-depth writing, including contributions from artists and collaborators offering inside perspectives on artistic processes. At newpolyphonies, artistic practices are the driving forces behind our work. You can experience them first-hand at a Club Zaghareeds dedicated to the youyou, or by joining an open lab to experiment with the voice or with the city as a sounding board. Keep an eye on our calendar for upcoming activities.

Summer is gone, the sunlight is slowly losing its strength, and everyone is finding their way back to work. At newpolyphonies, we are already very much in the middle of things.
While we are deep in the preparation of our structural funding dossier for 2028–2032, the voices are very much alive. We are in an intense period of rehearsals, performances and preparations for everything that is coming next.
Today, YouYou Group performs Segen as part of Cry (No) More at KVS. On 1 May 2027, Cry (No) More returns with its full programme, with YouYou Group joining again. more info

Summer is calling. People are drifting out, flying in and out, disappearing to the sea, the mountains, families, festivals, silence, or other rhythms. At newpolyphonies too, people will be moving through the coming months at different speeds.
But honestly: things will not become entirely quiet. Behind the scenes, we are making plans, writing, and building on the fruits of the past years, with a view to a new structural funding application for the period 2028–2032.

As spring gradually turns into summer, the past weeks have been filled with movement between rehearsals, residencies, publications, and encounters. While continuing our work on the Titans project and the second chapter of the publication, we have also been enjoying the vibrant energy of the Kunstenfestivaldesarts across Brussels.
Our intensive rehearsals for Titans continue alongside an ongoing exchange with Glossa through a series of online sessions and weekly moments of collaboration. As part of this residency and artistic dialogue, we will perform together with the Glossa Ensemble at Makroscope in Mülheim an der Ruhr on June 27.

newpolyphonies has gained a new artistic pillar: over the past months, KINOTITA has finally taken off after a year of preparation. This new platform for female composers supports knowledge exchange and co-creation among vocal artists working in groups. Think Big Band, but without a bandleader; think collective dynamics and social experimentation; think alternative compositional forms that allow other voices to be heard; think avant-garde and tradition—and think: urgently needed.
KINOTITA was founded by Elisa Kühnl and Myriam Van Imschoot out of both passion and necessity. Both are involved in two ensembles, Glossa from Cologne and the YouYou Group from Brussels, and have experienced first-hand how this often "gendered" work remains largely invisible at its foundations, even though it constitutes a craft in its own right—one in which there is still much to learn, including from one another.
